I saw Redux when it was released and was not disappointed-- worthy of a second viewing (only so I can catch up to the umpteen times I have seen the original).
As for a gathering to go "movie-hopping," it is not a bad idea. Penn Jillette (of Penn & Teller), when he lived in NYC, used to regularly meet at the Howard Johnson's restaurant in Times Square on Saturday nights before selecting a movie for all to attend. Unfortunately, I never attended one of these field trips, but I am told it was good times for all.
