Rented Clerks on the recommendation of a friend & loved it. Tried to rent Mallrats on many occasions but Blockbuster only had 1 copy & it was always out. Finally got it months later & liked it but not as much as Clerks (although I like it much better after repeated viewings).
Wanted to see Chasing Amy when it was in theatres cause it was getting good reviews but I never got a chance. I still wasn't a big fan at this point so I did not make a big effort to see it. Caught part of Amy on HBO when it came on but it was the rain scene, which looked boring at the time & I turned it off. Still not a fan at this point.
When Dogma was being made, I wasn't planning on seeing it in the theatre either. I found a copy of the Screenplay on the 'Net and decided to read it & see if it was good. That screenplay was one of the 'laugh out loud' funniest things I have ever read. NOW I was a fan.
Standing on line at Blockbuster one day, I look to my right & see Chasing Amy. I grab it & bring it home & watch it with my wife. Both of us love it. Now she is a fan too. She didn't really like Clerks & like 'Rats a little. We stay up most of the night & watch Clerks & 'Rats, which I own on video at that point. Now she likes all 3 movies & I am a total fan.
As much as I was looking forward to Dogma, I didn't see it until the week before it left theatres. But I was stupid because I read the screenplay the night before & that took a lot of the fun out of it.
Now, as far as Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back goes, I just bought my tickets for the sneak tomorrow, so I actually get to see this on in the theatres & early to boot.
