My girlfriend and I went to the first showing in Erie, PA and we laughed so hard it hurt. Right when the Chasing Amy theme music started, my girlfriend and I just looked at each other grinning like fools and humming along with the tune. Chasing Amy was the first flick we watched together and it and we both loved it. It broke down a lot of barriers in a big hurry. I mentioned to her afterward that this "final chapter" felt more like a salute to your fans than simply a going-out-with-guns-blazing send-off for Jay and Silent Bob. I read later in Ent. Weekly that that's what you intended with this chapter; a kind of "thank you" for the fans.
Well thank YOU, Kevin, you brilliant sonofabitch! Thanks for the awesome memories from five incredible films!
A final word: I couldn't care less if not everyone "gets" this film. Those of us in that theater that have been with you from the time the Quick Stop was black and white were obvious - we laughed ourselves into hysterics and applauded at every homage to your previous films. "Critics, schmitics", to quote someone we all know. Our best wishes for great returns this weekend - you deserve 'em! Looking forward to the next one with Ben, Joey, and Jason, but slow down and spend time with your family for a while, m'man.
