But it was her own fault. The plane was overloaded with luggage. The pilot and handlers complained, but Aaliyah and the rest of the crew insisted they be brought along. So the aircraft exceeded it's maximum takeoff weight, causing an engine to fail.
I mean, look at this plane, and try to imagine 9 people in it with a bunch of video equipment luggage.
