There was indeed a big crash many moons ago, and most of the original boards were lost. Some of the vets around here saved some of those boards to their hard drives, but I can't remember who. They popped up about a year ago when someone started throwing pieces of them out.
The only really old boards available anymore are in the archives section. It's interesting to go back and see them.
What's really funny about this was when some of the newer folks were "celebrating" the 300th board a few weeks back. I guess it's not really all that funny, but a bit of dramatic irony nonetheless.

I would think that the first board would be saved somewhere...but back when all of this started i dont believe anyone knew it would reach the magnitude it has today. And this "new" format that is set up is much better. Format isnt really a good word for it, neither is new. The thing that sucked about the old boards was that kevin and others posts were not in red. Granted, there werent as many people on the board back then, but damn it sucked to search through them all just to find what kevin had posted. The kool thing about back then was that the "reds" (particulary kevin) would post for hours on end at night/day.
