I thought the best film of 2000 was Lars Von Trier's Dancer in the Dark.
I still find this conclusion ironic because:
a) I didn't care for Bjork or her music prior to viewing it
b) I thought Breaking the Waves was overrated
c) I'm not a HUGE fan of musicals
Results of my admiration of the film: I dig Bjork and her music (gotta love that oscar dress), I saw Breaking the Waves from a different perspective, and I've seen a bunch of classic musicals.
99% of everyone at the View Askew staff would probably loathe the film, and the fact that I'm lauding it may ignite a great deal of invective from people who post on the board.
But, I had to get it off my chest.
Best film of 2000, hands down.
Give it a chance--chances are you'll hate it, but you never know.
