I know everyone is in a state of shock right now. None of any of this seems quite real to the world outside of visual contact of Manhattan/D.C./Pittsburgh.
Everyone here in the Heartland is walking around in a daze, too shocked, upset, and worried to think things through thoroughly.
So, that being said, and my prayers for the victims and their families being sent, some advice to those of you who are really having problems understanding the reality of this tragedy and making comments that reflect that openly.
Go down to your local Red Cross and give some blood to replenish what is sure to be the greatest shortage in the history of the institution.
Go to your local church, mosque, prayer rug, temple,or holy grove of trees to pray to whatever deity you claim that you don't ever have to go through what the citizens of New York are going through right now.
Go kiss your mother, father, sister, brother, son, daughter, significant other and hold them close to your heart, being thankful that they are safe in your arms and not buried under 100 floors of concrete.
Go into your heart and find the part of you that is the most human and interested in the survival of the species and what is sacred on that level, life, and then understand that thousands upon thousands of people have been deprived of that spark in one fell swoop by the hatred of others.
If you still can't understand that this is not a joking matter, or something to stand by and wonder at as if it were all in a movie, then I wish only that God will bless you with that understanding before it's too late for you to close your mouth or your pencap next time.
With many prayers,
SwingKitten
