Forgive me for the redundancies in this post.
I've been watching the news nonstop for 7 hours now, and it still hasn't
quite sunk in. All air traffic suspended, borders closed, destroyers and
aircraft carriers deployed to the East and West coasts of the United States. Wall Street shut down. The US military on Threat Con Delta- the highest possible state of alert. Our country is in lockdown.
If it were a Tom Clancy book, it would be considered too far fetched to be
believed.
Sorry to state the obvious, but make no mistake, this is by far the largest
and most devastating act of war ever perpertrated against the United States. Ever. It makes Pearl Harbor look insignificant in comparison. There are almost certainly tens of thousands people dead. This is absolutely unprecedented in world history. There's never been anything even close to this. WWI started with the assassination of one individual. This is the assassination of the civilized world.
Hamas released a statement simply stating "Humanity is taking its revenge against US oppression."
It feels like a nightmere.
My best friend Vanessa works about a mile away from the World Trade Center
and saw the whole thing through her window, including the second plane
flying directly into the tower. She was talking to her mom on the phone when the second tower collapsed, and screamed.
It appears that the pilot of the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania was a
hero who chose to crash his plane rather than take it to Camp David or the
White House.
Tens of thousands. Innocent people. There just aren't enough adjectives to
describe the sheer horror of this tragedy.
Donate blood if you can. Pray for the victims and their families. Call your
loved ones. Things will never be the same after today.
Everyone who has been hurt by this enormous tragedy, my thoughts are with you.
God help us.
