To say that this tragedy has affected me in any way would be a lie. I am English, and to be perfectly honest, with the exception of some perverse amusement at the begining, when it wasn't that big it hadn't touched me in any way. Then two things happened. I went out with some friends down the pub tonight. I must remind you that I am English, and yet everyone was baying for blood, and hoping to hurt and kill anybody who wasn't white. I am now worried for a number of my friends who are either asian, or have tanned skin. The fact that even people who were completely unaffected by this could turn against more than half the world's population based on the actions of a few extremists is more worrying to me than any sort of terrorism.
The reason that I have posted this message though, isn't to try and get my point across, well, not directly anyway, but to say that the attitudes that the two previous posters have taken, given their involvement in this event should be commended. If people who have a real involvement with what happened aren't asking for the head of Bin Laden, then no one else should, and certainly no one should even consider turning on Hindus, Muslims or any other ethnic minority.
