: ...please let this shit stop.
I think that's a good prayer. It's vulgar, but the weight of the situation can't be spoken in civil terms.
I cried earlier today. I don't live anywhere near New York, and it's not likely that I know any of the deceased, but at 11 o'clock this morning, I just couldn't take it.
They took airplanes, with people, and with malice aforethought, chose the largest ones, with the most fuel, then crashed them into populated buildings. I mean, who could do such a thing? Even as jaded a person as I am, I couldn't help but shed tears for the whole thing.
Then, when I thought the bleeding had stopped, and it was time to start growing scabs, and to let the scars form, the stories started to pour in. People's patience was running low, and they finally begin to say, "I can't find my brother," and then you hear that he's in a wheelchair on the 97th floor of a building without elevators, and you hope that he was one of those people carried out on the back of some nameless hero, but all you can do is close your eyes and pray, "Please let this shit stop....."
Words can't express what went on in the world today. And as we face tomorrow, this song is running through my head:
"I wonder what this day will see
Will I find my dreams,
Or stare in the face of tragedy?
Whatever may come,
Whatever may be,
Of this I am sure,
I'm forgiven and free,
And I will live like I believe
It's good to be alive"

"Good to be Alive"
God bless you all, and may your tomorrows be better than your today.
