: I am sorry that I ruined a great family gathering when I joined this web board.
Don't recall that you have.
:I had no idea new people weren't allowed to take an interest in your career or movies until I came here.
Not true at all - otherwise there'd only be about five people posting here, all of who worked on Clerks.
: Most of us ''newbies'' came here because we enjoy your movies and after the release of ''J&SBSB'' wanted to express those thoughts.
I can buy that. It's just that so many of those "thoughts" were expressed in nonsensical and mis-spelled rants that it got tiresome. Also, many of the posters seemed to be trying to fit the whole Jay stereotype, and seeing an entire board taken up with posts reading "U R gay" is very dull, and not a little depressing.
: What happened was quite unusual, the ''oldies'' didn't like new people joining their exclusive club.
It's hardly an exclusive club, but how about this? Clubs have rules, and one of the rules of this "club" is that this is not a chat forum. Admittedly, a lot of questions do evolve into chat, but they're initially on-topic and it's natural progression. Endless polls along the lines of "Who would you most like to fuck in a View Askew movie?" are moronic. The nonsense about Burton and GLAAD also didn't do the newbies a lot of favours - most of those posts were rants along the lines of "Tim Burton is gay and his films suck - Kevin rules!". It's hardly informed debate...
: The ''oldies'' think the y know the VA staff personally and don't want to share them with ''outsiders''.
Not at all - apart from the ones that do know them.
: Mr. Smith, I wish you would have said that after a certain point new members wouldn't be allowed to join. That would have avoided a lot of anger from from your loyal ''oldies''.
Kevin loves newbies, especially self-pitying ones.
