Ullo there,
I know that this board is mainly just wannabie fanboys and that there is the odd (offical) person answering questions. but anyhows.....
Right i'm a bit of a view askew fan but more in the enjoyment of the films rather than the "fandom" associated with the films.
Clerks... was a good movie and it was a great break for you guys and i know it was a budget movie but you seemed to be able to work past you problems in order to create a different approach to a fairly dissimal market place. Not my favourite... (cept the cartoons... laughed my ass off at them).
Mallrats... i remember this being the first view askew film i was told to watch... and i did so. I was horribly disappointed because the hype my friends had put behind it as being this great hilarious movie. *blink* ..... after a while i started to watch the movie a little more and as i watched it more it grew and grew on me. Funny, but i think it's one of the ones for the fans...
Chasing Amy.... i saw this first at a friends on DVD. I was relieved to see that this movie wasn't just all about comedy but it had a real message behind it and throught it tried to deliver a message of showing us just how sure of ourselves we are (in a cocky way) and the fact that anything that seems distant to us we shun. I think of the view askew movies i have seen, this is my favourite.
Dogma.... i saw this first last night on special edition DVD (after a several hour marathon of watching all the movies [as listed above]). It showed me just how much the team and kevin had learnt and developed their skills in the production. I'm proud of kevin for making this film about the fickl-ism of not only catholicism but all denominations of christianity. I myself a non-denominational christian 'idealist' was glad to see that someone was actually standing up for theirselves in such a sea of hushing (ie: elders saying to keep it to yourself). kevin - i wish you well in your career and in your homelife.
Jay and Silent Bob Stike Back....
*scott taps his fingers on the table* Well, i'm irish and live in the homeland so unfortunately i have not been able to see the movie yet but i'll be in to see it soon as it comes out.
Now, there is one genius bit in dogma which i love but haven't been able to work out. I was wondering if kevin or the like could answer it for me...
*cough* Why Alanis Morisette as God??
Yours scincerely and thankfully (for actually bothering to read the far)
