Drove home from school this weekend, to check in on my parents in DC, and just get a sense of what the hell happened...Tuesday was a nightmare when I woke up for class. My Dad actually works in the counter-terrorism division for the CIA, and when I first turned on the TV, they were reporting that the State Department might have been hit, and that there were still planes unaccounted for. I freaked and kept trying to call my dad, getting only this weird, disconnected beeping noise when I called him at Langley. I couldn't get through to my other either, who also wors for The Agency, though at a more outlying facility. I wasn't able to get through for about 2 hours, though luckily by then the new had cleared up and the attacks seemed over...THEN I realized that my best friend from middle school was a marine who worked in the Pentagon, in the "Army" side, the side tht had been hit...I kept paging him until finally, that evening, he gave me a quick call saying he was alright. His office was barely 75 yards from where the plane hit. Since then, he's returned to the Pentagon, the very next day even. My Dad is just gone. He sleeps in the office, and has been home maybe 4-5 hours total since Tuesday. He can't sleep. He can't eat. I toured the site at the Pentagon yesterday, and have never felt more empty seeing the huge chunk just sliced out of this huge, thick building, burn marks stretching down nearly the length of the side. The smell is thick, hot, and pungent. It's simply the worst thing I've ever seen in my entire life.
Just wanted to say a few things. I honestly don't what to do now.
