First, as for religion, yes Pat Puke-Cannon and Jerry Foulmouth are idiots and their recent statements are way out of line. Nobody should presume to put words in God's mouth. And lumping lesbians in with abortion as the great menaces of our society is a sad joke. You can't very well blame gays for abortion. I think the far right figureheads are so puffed up with self importance and a need to provike a civil war that they forget to be human beings. When they get the boot out of America, please don't send them in a northerly direction.
As for Catholic mass, as a Catholic, the worst you can legitimately say is that it can get kind of boring. I do think that people crave ritual, and if they don't get it from a religious community they will get it from gangs - or worse: game shows.
