I would seriously like to be a writer for movie scripts. I have a lot of ideas going around in my head. Unfortunately, I went that "safe road" and decided to become an engineer, so writing will have to be on the side for now.
I must admit I'm a fairly recent fan of Kevin Smith's movies. What's funny is the similarities my movie ideas shared with his movies.
My first idea was for a light comedy, kinda romantic, but a guy's movie. I was going to call it "Somewhere in Between". My second idea was for a depressing relationship movie with a realistic.... depressing... ending. Not long ago, my friend and I were talking and joked that we should make a low-budget movie, one that's simple and funny and would be relatively inexpensive to make. Obviously, I bumped the idea to the first of my three movies, since it would come first.
Then I See J&SBSB. More importantly, I go re-watch Dogma and see his other movies for the first time. Now, I'm desperately seeking ways to change my movies so as not to seem like a Smith copycat. :-D It's a shame, too, 'cause I could have so much fun making a satirical movie about the Catholic church.
I am diverging now, thankfully. I'm helping a friend come up with a plot for a murder movie, but one where a murderer is the "good guy" for lack of a better word. I dunno how serious he is on it, but if it comes about, I'm gonna start trying to write it.
