After 'Amy' came out, everyone wondered whether Banky was gay or not, and there were many a discussion about the topic. You said that, "No, Banky is not gay. He would never cruise, nor would he have ever actively pursued Holden of his own accord. However, he does love his friend. Very deeply."

So, after saying that, why'd you decide to infer in JSBSB that Banky's switched teams, and has shacked up with Hooper? Not that it matters if Banky is gay. Considering that, one, he's a fictional character...and two, if he is gay, big deal...nothing wrong with that. But I'm still curious why you seem to have changed your mind about the subject.

Also, there was some discussion about this the other day (maybe you saw it), so I thought I might as well just ask you: Are you going to be writing your own original screenplay based on the concepts presented in the 'Fletch Won' novel? I thought that's what I'd read (at newsaskew probably). It's a bit different then writing a script based strictly on a book's storylne, like in 'Get Shorty'. I ask because some thought you were simply adapting the novel.

I was under the impression it will be an original screenplay, with you basically coming up with your own storyline, based on the concept of a young Fletch, from the novel, 'Fletch Won'. I'm guessing you'd use bits and pieces from the book, but other than that, it would be by and large your own piece of work.

Am I on the right track? Or completely wrong?
