: Anyway, do you or Kevin have any say toward what music ends up on the movies?
Yes. In the case of Kevin, usually a bunch of music from whatever label is doing the soundtrack is given to him and he can pick and choose songs.
As for A BETTER PLACE, it was kinda the same- a score was composed specifically for the film and I used it as I saw fit, and then View Askew's own Amy Noble's brother Michael gave me a shitload of music he'd already recorded and gave me free reign to pick and choose anything I wanted to use, so I choose a bunch of his tunes to fill out the soundtrack as well. The ordering of the tracks and dialogue clips on the A BETTER PLACE soundtrack CD was "designed" by me as well- I wanted it to play like a Pink Floyd concept album with the tracks bleedind into each other, and I think it succeeds. In fact I'm quite proud of that album, BUY IT!
