: : : : I know a film is in some small way like a baby, you want it to grow and flourish, and maybe grow up to become President, but here is one simpel fact that means this film was a HUGE damn success. : : 1. Many times, I have read fans plead for a "Jay and Bob" film, and Kevin EMPHATICALLY stated he could not do it..it would NEVER work. : : While I am PISSED that the View Askewniverse has ended with very little but cameos from the main denizens... : : The film made 30 million on JAY AND BOB!!!! : : I doubt many people knew the many 'stars' that were in the film, so this proves that this film DID score big. : : It has proven Kevin wrong. : : many,many films NEVER see the 30 mil mark, let alone the fact that even with non-blockbuster status, the film is STILL AROUND in the big theatres. : : How long was 'Driven' around again? : : Kevin carried a movie. : : Not as a director, or even a writer, but as an actor. : : Mewes was the big face on the one-sheet. : : The film grossed 30 mil. : : Just roll over the one fact that Kevin was wrong..and I know he would NEVER utter the excuse, but kids DID buy tickets to other films to the tune of 2 to 5 million. : : My last thought is this...I fear the day when Kevin DOES open and hold the #1 spot...and realizes that it is empty compared to having a film that maybe a 'hit', but does not MEAN as much to the viewers as his films have. : : The #1 is probably a good feeling, but if I was a director, I'd choose a group of die hard fans willing to shell out mass bucks and see anyhting I did with an open mind..be it a stupid comedy, a serious relationship fil, a thesis on religion, or a cartoon. : : People judge a Tim Burton movie by the content. Some of his films fail, while some are hits... : : Kevin is consistent because he gives to his fans one thing... : : A guarentee of quality. : : You may not LIKE what you see, or agree...but it will entertain you. : : Other directors admire Kevin...and he is gaining 'Respect' by major critics. : : When was the last time anyone discussed Adam Herz(sp?)? : : Kevin can sob all he wants,(JOKE!!!) but at the end of the day, as he pointed out, he made a movie with his idols, friends, wife, kid and employees...centered around two 'Supporting Characters'.. : : And made 30 mil IN THE USA alone. : : Not too shabby. : : I DARE Bruckheimer to try that one.
