Right now, I'll beg, if it means I get to go to Ithaca. It's stupid, but I won't go unless I get to see Kevin, even though he's not the reason I want to go. Does that make any sense? No, I don't suppose it does, but that's the way it is. I want to go because I miss Ithaca. But I don't feel that's a good enough excuse, really, to take off from work. And besides, part of it was wanting to meet you, as well as other VA fans from here that might be able to attend. Seeing Kevin speak would be a major, major bonus, but it was more the people than anything else. It's not like I've never seen Kevin speak before, I've just never seen it in person; it was more of an atmospheric thing. Again, I don't know if that makes any sense, but that's just the way it is.
An afternoon engagement would actually have been better for me, because then I could head home Monday night instead of having to wait until Tuesday. But I suppose it's all academic, now, ain't it?
As for the stupidity of Cornellians... yeah, I know. All it takes to get in there is money, near as I could tell in my 4 years. IC students were far more creative and talented, overall. Besides, at least IC isn't frat-dominated. They're THERE, but they don't run the campus the way they do at Cornell. Driving around fraternity row over at Cornell (smoking up in the car...), all I could think was what a shame it was that they were allowed to destroy such beautiful houses. The whole University is a city-sized waste of space.
