I was talking to a friend of mine who is a manager at a movie theatre. He remains to be shocked that the Others still is in top ten after being out all this time, especially because no one goes to see it. He says, at his theatre anyway, showings have been consistenty empty for a while now, and that JSBSB usually has the same or better ticket sales.
I know that one theatre doesn't count for all of them, but The Others had a poor ad campaign, and the word of mouth wasn't that great (at least not from all of the people I know who saw it, and what I read on the 'net).
Would it make sense that Dimension would count some of the grosses of JSBSB towards the others? Perhaps they are trying to maintain a relationship with Nicole Kidman, Tom Cruise (a producer of the Others), and that new Spanish director, and they think a bigger box office total for The Others will achieve this. After all, they did screw JSBSB over with that sneak preivew scam for the Others.
