Spoiler*
Stop reading if you don't like them...
Anyway, the ending... Is it universally known that comic book conventions are a great way to feel depressed? Sure you meet tons of really cool people... But at the same time you may never see them again... And everyone is in their own imagination... There are so many worlds in everyone's imagination. Its something incredibly fascinating, but at the same time depressing since there is no way to understand all the factets that they know... Comic book conventions have alot of people that have alot in common with you, but there is only a small % of women in comparison with guys... Its a sort of thing that makes you think... And when you think about how other people think... And you're thinking of relationships, and maybe that your mind is far from what girls think... Thats the sort of thing that makes people depressed. Comic book conventions are a thing of memory... You always remember the events, but you also remember the deep thinking you had that went along with girls and relationships.... Its sort of a great experience but you remember the bad things you were thinking... Comic books are a great read and if you're part of it, opens up new worlds in your own mind... But when you think of the convention, you could be thinking that its a way to keep yourself away from girls, or a way to keep yourself antisocial.
So a the reality of experiencing a comic book convention.... You may want to stop reading comics in order to experience girls and socialization better... But then the convention went against its purpose. Its supposed to inspire you to read more comics and be a great place to meet minds. The actual experience is what looses the appeal...
Now I had alot of problems with how slow the scenes went with Chasing Amy... But aside from that... The scene just before the last one in the comic convention... Where the 3some experience would actually ruin things.... In my own mind the hero was partly retarded and it was painful to watch his decisions in long excrusiating detail... But in a deeper level... Experiencing the event would actually ruin what each person had in love, and in their minds/hearts... Much like experiencing a comic book convention can actually ruin the love you had for comics which is in your mind and heart...
I am curious if what I got out of this was what Smith saw when deciding on the convention at the end. I know its far fetched, probably just a wierd coincidence, or maybe my experience of a comic book convention is wildly different than others...
