Seriously, that's kind of an odd observation. What does he do that makes you think he's hitting on her? When he says he "sees the resemblance" between her and her sister, who he says is very pretty? That was meant as a way for him to break the ice, not to hit on her at all.
But hey, if it makes you enjoy the film more and doesn't take away from in, well, in that case, you're totally right, he's totally hitting on her.
