: As a long time and hardcore fan...I'm curious..what did you think of it?
I did enjoy it. I have to confess I was a bit worried when I heard that Jay had a lot of dialogue, as I wasn't too impressed with his delivery in Dogma (sorry, Jay fans). However, I thought his delivery this time was generally very good.
The film as a whole was very much a "love letter to fans" - I could see people enjoying it for what it is, but it would mean a lot, lot more to someone who is familiar with all the other films.
To sum up, Mallrats was very much my favourite View Askew film before I saw JASBSB (followed by Clerks), and I have to say that that hasn't changed. I do like JASBSB though - it's certainly one I'll be re-watching many times when it comes out on DVD.
