'Clint' got a chance to talk to Kevin Smith about his upcoming "Fletch" movie...

Most people would know by now that Kevin Smith (Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back) plans to make his own film version based on the "Fletch" novels. I had the opportunity to talk to Smith this morning about his planned film. First of all, Smith says it won't start filming until next year. And besides the fact that Jason Lee is pencilled in for the lead, Smith is going to approach Chevy Chase with an offer to do a cameo in the film. That way, fans of the original "Fletch" films won't feel ripped off. Meantime, Australian cinemagoers are up in arms over Miramax's decision to postpone "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" to February 2002. It was originally supposed to come out in two weeks.
