Its been a while since my View Askew cherry was popped, but I do remember that fateful day when I first picked up a Smith flick. The order I saw them all was completely backasswards:
Chasing Amy
Clerks
Mallrats
Dogma
J&SBSB
I was working at a video store in 97 and Chasing Amy was on the New Release wall, I picked it up took it home watched it and fell in love with the movie. A few weeks later I had conquered the new release wall and was perusing the older movies to find a good flick, I came across Clerks and knowing I had heard a ton of good things about it I picked it up. Took it home watched it and nearly shit myself when Jay and Silent Bob came on the screen for I had not yet made a connection between the movies. Being the half assed nit wit that I was back then I still didnt look into the matter and investigate if our blunt connection heroes were in any other movies so the same way I found Clerks is the same way I found Mallrats, just walking along the rows of movies. I like to believe that it was some sort of divine intervention that lead me to all of his movies.
I got very into the movies and in fact added to the rate of Clerks being the highest stolen movie in the US! As well as Chasing Amy and Mallrats, it was a shitty video store that eventually closed anyway. I do however debate that the wait wasnt as excrutiating for me though - waiting for Dogma nearly killed me man! And you should have seen the line at the theater for it when it came out. That was the first time I had ever posted on the board - I came on to tell everyone the line had been longer than the one for Episode 1. I got utterly reemed out by the vets and now here I am years later. Oh the memories!
Much Love
