: what are good schools for those desiting to be dcirectors?

Which ones are good, are hard to say, but there are many that do
teach directing. Everyone knows about NYU and USC as premiere
Film programs. Some lesser known and more reasonable money
and acceptance wise would be Southern Illinois U. at Carbondale
(very cheap), Webster U. in St Louis, U of New Orleans. I'm at
Binghamton University, but transfering to SIU Carbondale since BU
teaches experimental film and SIU teaches narrative and
documentary. The only good advice is to talk to the film departments
and avoid the Film only schools, go to an accredited university or
college and get a whole education.

: for how many years must a director go to school to get a full
education in directing?

This depends on you and how fast you learn and how much natural
talent you have. you don't need a degree to direct, just the knowledge
and talent.

: what courses should aspiring directors take?

Film production courses to include: Filming, editing, sound recording,
screenwriting, and even acting.

: what is the most important tool learned in school that is used most
often?

How to actually use a camera and edit your film. Once you have the
technical know how, talent can take over.
