First, I AM proud to be an American. Being proud or patriotic does not mean you have to agree with the social/political situation we have, however. I, like many, have doubts at the efficiency of many elements of modern politics. However, as tragic as this recent attack was, it brings out the best in Americans by realizing we are NOT all-powerful and invincible anymore. By having our lives shaken I hope we can learn to love the freedoms we have taken for granted for so long and even almost lost at times through social corruption.

We have had some reform issues to tackle in American society, law, and politics, and I still think we do. At best, coming together to solve the problem of terrorism will force people of different opinions to cooperate and resolve some of the divisiveness we have in this nation.

Patriotism is no longer a vice of solely the conservative. This event will put a new spin on patriotism, leading us to question how we treat our neighbors and our ideally-former enemies. People have had to look at all the diversity in America and accept that it was intolerance that contributed to this tragedy. I sure hope there is a resurgence in the R-word in this country: respect.

Kevin, you are wonderful for your principles. There is no reason why people cannot address both the funny and the serious in striving to better their lives. I do have a small American flag posted on my dorm window. Don't worry, I haven't gone to being a homophobe or advocating the legal observation of Easter! LOL! :P

I probably will have a new name soon, as this one will be obsolete after tomorrow.

Happy Samhain and Halloween to all who wish to keep going with their lives!

God and Goddess bless America!
Eric
