Besides my idea for the movie with the two witches in a small town, I have another idea:
It's a medium-small town and a 16-year-old high school junior is into all the fun stuff: sports, dating, theater, music, and studies. Except for one thing this young man doesn't care for: girls. Except as friends.
He does have one annoying bully who teases him, calling him "fag" and all the names. It would be embarrassing, he thinks, for his 'enemy' to be right about him. So he tries to cover it up initially.
After going to a therapist to deal with his sexuality, the guy decides to come out at the end of receiving a sports award for varsity basketball. It sets the student body on fire, dividing his friends into two groups.
But the thing about this guy is he's not the timid or modest type when it comes to his social demeanor, especially after accepting that it's okay to be himself. He's still the cool, Joe-next-door type of person that never had trouble with people. He shows he's not afraid of himself by turning on his bully in the locker room. Although beaten up, the fact that he stood up for himself and started the fight intimidates Mr. Evil.
The rest of the story centers around his efforts to remain the cool superhero he has been up to then and in the process, mutilate every conceivable gay stereotype made among the youth. He'll brush with people "in the scene" but he himself hates traditional gay culture and will do everything he can to remain an individualist.
Keep in mind this is a comedy and the hero should not ever come through as a timid character. He's much like Brodie from Mallrats: self-confident and very 'straight-acting'. But such a movie would have potential to inspire youth going through the coming out process.
Fans--especially 'deviant' fans--what do you think?
