I'm in absolute agreement with you on the over-21 thing. It's stupid. If you can have sex with a 50-year-old, get married and go to war, you should damn well be able to have a drink in peace. And you should definitely be allowed to stay in a hotel for a couple of nights. I just think the Holiday Inn people should recognize that they can lose considerable business by keeping this dumb-ass policy.

I also want to say I really appreciate all the time, thought and effort you put into making this a smoothly-running event. It's awesome, and you're selling me on the Holiday Inn anyway (my roommate's dad is a HI entrepreneur, so maybe I can get an extra deal, besides). Please let me buy you a drink, if you drink, during the event, so I can give my thanks in person. You're swell.

And I'm only the voice of reason NOW, because I know at the time I will become irrational and will be serving Glen tequila body shots in the cloakroom while requesting the bartenders play Britney Spears songs so I can "get my groove on". I try to account for my what-the-fuck tendencies by being sensible beforehand.

Bob just needs to have fun! Maybe I'll take him to the strip club down the road...try to lighten him up a bit.

: Number one, we're talking about a population of about 25-30 that are under 21, and they're all at least 18. We're not talking about having 14-year old kids in a 'bar'. The only one I know of that's below 18 is Glen, who's 16 and is coming halfway around the world to be at this thing. After all that time and money he's spent, is it right to deny him entry to a party because people older than him are they're and (ohmygod!) they're drinking BEER?!?!?

: And it's not like he'll be breaking the law, either. The place is a bar/restaurant. As long as he's sitting at a table and not AT THE BAR, then he's cool. The fuzz can't mess with him or with the folks running the bar.

: For us, the Red Roof is simply backfill in case the Inn runs out of rooms or if Dickhead-Bob denies someone entry because of their age. Last year there was a big difference in the price, but this year the difference is only ten bucks. If your budget is that tight, then have at it. As a matter of fact, the Inn has a BIGGER beef with non-patrons hanging around their hotel then they do with someone under-21 being in Morgan's. If we piss off Morgan, the first thing he'll do is throw out anyone who can't prove they're staying at the hotel.

: Maybe it's me, but I'm 25, and I still get pissed off every time I see that over 21 shit. When you turn 18, you're old enough to vote, go to jail, or die for your country, but they still consider you a 'minor', and that's BULLSHIT. I had every adult experience there was to be had by the time I was 13, and lived on my own when I was 16. I pulled the workload of an adult for FIVE YEARS before I was 'legally of age', and put up with ALOT of shit along the way. Law or not, it's age discrimination and it's WRONG.

: I've only gone to the Red Roof once, when it was considerably cheaper, and my lady didn't like it, so it's either the Inn or a suite someplace (like up in Avenel) for us from now on. And believe it or not, the Inn is on thin ice with me this year. I left V2K last year with my mind bent on using a different hotel, but they have the only decent-sized gathering place, and when I put it up for everyone to decide, that was the most important factor. I'm only backing them so hard because we have the group deal with them and they made alot of concessions for us. They've even scored some cool points by letting us use the TV's in the bar for any media we want to throw up there. If they piss us off in any considerable way once we're there, I'll never call them or go there again. The problem is, there ain't much else out there in that part of Jersey...

:
: : And just out of curiosity, how big is this Morgan's place?

: It probably can't hold 850 people, but not everyone will be there. A ton of ticket buyers are (relative) locals who will only roll into town on the day of the Thon, no sooner. When you consder all the restaurant tables, there's ALOT of room, and those tables are deserted all night, so their fair game. Mogran's could possibly handle a crowd about 1.75 times the size of last year's, so I won't be surprised if it nudges past the fire code limit. It's gonna be close, I know that...

:
: : Go the route of least resistence!
: That's easy for you to say. You're over 21...

:
: : Who wants to get discovered and kicked out by Bob?
: Fuck Bob. Fuck him up his stupid ass...
