"Faerie Queene" gathers its' images from something a little more basic - The King Arthur myth:
Now, my own personal theory is that Darth Vader (Dark Father) or Anakin (Anakin = a variation of "God Child") represents the Lancelot figure, the father, the unworthy knight. Luke (Luke/Lucas - "The Light Bringer") is Galahad, the son, the pure.
While Chewie is a respectable companion, in many cases he represents Han's conscience--(Sort of like Wilson in "Cast Away", the mute companion.) Chewie isn't mute, of course, but he doesn't speak any language that we understand...so, for intents and purposes--mute. Listen to how Han speaks to him as if answering his own thoughts: "What are you lookin' at? I know what I'm doin'." "Fly casual." He's sort of an Id figure, as well: "I don't care what you smell!", "Always thinking with your stomach!"
