I agree with Brian (below) about the so-so writing. It was good to hear Kevin Conroy doing Batman, a bit confusing to see Flash and Wonder Woman portrayed the way they were. (Headstrong Flash? A flying Wonder Woman, that they've never met before?) But I guess SOMEONE had to be the headstrong kid, and SOMEONE had to be the newcomer.
Nah, scratch that. Nobody HAS to fill any stereotypes like that. But I could adjust. I liked the underlying theme that they couldn't handle things on their own, but as a team, they rocked. I'm glad they didn't throw the Legion of Doom (or whatever) in there right off the bat; alien invaders is good comic/cartoon fare, especially for a series premier.
And I loved that exchange at the end....
"We can be a force that truly works for justice."
"What, like a bunch of superfriends?"
Have faith, if you guys (like uh Brian!) thought the other characters were wooden. It's just the first ep, and you can only do so much in an hour-fifteen. That's why it's a series. I'd love to see a Justice League movie, but you just couldn't make all the characters' roles interesting enough. (Consider the Star Trek flicks.)
Next episode will be about Green Lantern. We'll see then.
