My parents bought those Beta tapes by the armfull...actually, the majority of the ones we had stemmed from one single incident: in the early 80's we lived on an army base down in Panama...a guy there was running a video rental operation out of his house, something that ended up being against base rules...so he had to sell all his tapes, which were Beta, and we ended up with more than a hundred...still have the little beasts, and the player, too...the tape deck pops up out of the unit and everything...
