I loved the books and the movie, but even if the premise doesn't interest you, see it for the Quidditch match, especially if you enjoy sports. I read the first book 7 times and even I wasn't prepared for what i saw on screen--it was invigorating.

Rowling's ideas are *very* different from Tolkien's--even if she did derive inspiration from his work, the world she created is nothing like Middle Earth. Don't let the wizard label fool you. Besides, it's ignorant to assess something you haven't acquainted yourself with yet. (and as influential as Tolkien's work may be, it's infantile to believe that "most of the other writers of today" "got most of" their ideas from him. Yeah, Kevin based Holden and Banky on Frodo and Bilbo Baggins--not bloody likely)

: I know, I've seen the trailer, but not the movie and haven't read the books. But that's my solid opinion. I'm much more eager to see Lord of the Rings. THAT will rock. Besides, that's where Rowling got most of her ideas, along with most of the other writers of today.

: : I may be crazy, but I'm not really interested in Harry Potter. Don't know
: : much about it. Haven't read any of the HP books. I DID see the new
: : Star Wars trailer online and THAT is something I'm interested in. Lord
: : of the Rings looks good, too.

: : YOU, Jason Lee. No really.

: : : How WAS the break, man, short though it may have been? What're
: : you working on now, or what's on the horizon?

: : : I suppose the current hot question across the nation is... Did you
: : see Harry Potter? Did you like it?

: : : Peas.
