: It's true there are strict restrictions on certain aspects of the EU. Lucas doesnt allow the EU writers to explore or go into certain plot points, which he usually uses himself somewhere along the line.
Also for a long time the EU was not allowed to kill off any of the main characters. But that all changed now. The gauntlet has been thown down. Now no one is safe in the EU.
