I mean, the place was festering pile of disease and filth, but it had a certain MAD MAX charm to it. A trashy poetic quality; it may have been skanky, but dear god was it unique. And I've got me some bittersweet memories associated with a long ago ron-day-voo with someone there. More bitter than sweet, but still, memories all the same.
: As to your ROCKEM SOCKEM™ fighters (note the trademark superscript), I had one of those toys too. But there will never be another toy like a Vertibird™.
You got me there; I don't recall that at all. I did have a magnetic "board game" called BOMBS AWAY (I think) where the board was a wheel that spun, and you held these metal bee-bees (the 'bombs') with a magnet in the shape of a helicopter that was Rube-Goldberged above the board, and you dropped them onto various targets and stuff. Loud and almost as annoying to parents as a clumsily plated game of OPERATION, the goofy game for wacky doctors.
: I built half the fucking Duracell corporation just from playing that goddamn thing.
I financed their other half with BIG TRAK, the programmable tank. Sucker took, like, 12 D cell batteries.
