That's true, but the "Dogs" part came from Sam Peckinpah's STRAW DOGS, another of Tarantino's favourites. He combined the two into RESERVOIR DOGS. I read some interview with him in which he said that it didn't really mean anything, but that it sounded cool, and it somehow seemed to sum up the characters... so there you go, there's your answer.
: The video store Tarantino worked in while writing it had a movie called Au Revoir les Enfants or something, and he called it "the Reservoir Movie." That's supposedly where the title came from. Could be a whole Pavlov's DOGS and a RESERVOIR connection (reservoir as in something people live off or something), but the French movie connection seems plausible enough to me.
