Northern Ireland was a product of the treaty struck in 1922 with Ireland and England. Michale Collins decided appeasement would end the war that England was fighting (and losing) in Ireland quicker. He was right. However Eamonn De Valera, Ireland's president, was furious that he had given the crown an inch. What would have been a stepping stone to one Ireland was sabotaged by De Valera' blunder.
70% of te people Northern Ireland want union with Ireland. Unfortunately, the other, richer crowd are those in power.
