: I just read that Steven Spielberg turned down a request from George Lucas to record commentaries for the Indiana Jones DVDs. He said the Commentaries would detract from the film. (Rob Reiner said something similar in the Original DVD of Spinal Tap, he said it takes away from the mystery and magic of filmmaking)

: What a DICK! Commentaries of films is one of the best ways for upcoming fimmakers to learn from people who have made movies. As many of you know DVD Commentaries can be EXTREMLY entertaining (Mallrats' commentary is much funnier than the movie itself!)

: If Control Freak George Lucas can record a Commentary why the fuck can't his buddy Stevie? Episode 1 is a good film with that Commentary, I even enjoy Jar Jar with an explanation covering his dialouge!

...You could respect the artist.

Kubrick was tight about that sort of shit, right? I'd imagine for similar reasons. I don't blame them, even if I would like to have a Kubrick commentary (especially since he's dead now).
