thats actually not to far from where i work and i was thinking about going there but lack-o-funds got in the way. it seems like only lil rich kids can go there seeing as how much everything is and there seems to be like NO time to have a job (even part time). besides that basis (i personally dont know...im just goin on what ive read in the 'book') what is wrong with it?? bad teaching?? just all out sux??
: : A question for Kevin, Vinnie, or anyone that has an opinion...
: : As an aspiring film maker myself, I plan on going out to Hollywood or New York after college and trying to throw myself in the film scene anyway I can. Sadly, I don't know if I can act so I will have to write and see where it goes from there.
: : But how important is film school to anyone that wants to be a film maker? Is it worth the cost? Are there any ones that you would suggest?
: Don't go to the New York Film academy. Try to learn what you can, if you have difficulties then it probably isn't for you. Read a lot, write a lot. Experiment, find out your forte. Do not go to a Film School if you want to be purely individual, teaching methods contain a small dose of pontification.
: What is important is to asses why you want to do this. Why do you want to throw yourself into the industry? Why are you using writing as a method when it seems like you simply want to get into a competitive industry? Think about why you want to be there, then work out what you actually want to do to get in. "I want to be famous so i'm gonna write films" isn't a good approach.
: Good luck to you, see you at the top.
