I ONLY TYPE IN CAPS TO MAKE CLEAR WHAT YOU SAID VS WHAT I SAID...I THINK WE HAVE A FUNDAMENTAL DIFFRENCE IN OPINION..I BELIEVE THAT OPINIONS DON'T HAVE TO BE BASED ON FACT, OPINIONS AND PERSONAL BELIEFS ARE CREATED BY COUNTLESS THINGS IN OUR LIVES...I BELIEVE THAT BOXING ISN'T A SPORT AND THAT IT ADS NOTHING TO OUR CULTURE, AND IN SOMEWAYS MAY BE HARMFUL TO OUR SOCIETY, PERHAPS IT IS JUST A SYMPTOM OF A GREATER ILLNESS..BUT THIS IS MY OPINION..IT IS OK TO HAVE AN OPINION/BELIEF WITHOUT FACTS..IE, I THINK IT IS WRONG TO STEAL...THAT IS MY OPINION, IT IS NOT BECAUSE YOU MAY TO GO JAIL THAT I THINK IT IS WRONG...I THINK IT IS WRONG TO SUPPORT A SPORT BASED SOLEY ON VIOLENCE...NORMALLY WE GET ALONG QUITE WELL ON THIS BOARD, YOU AND I, SO I REALLY DON'T WANT THIS TO GET OUT OF HAND,,,LETS JUST AGREE THAT WE HAVE A DIFFERING OPINION. I HAVE READ WHAT YOU WROTE AND IT WILL MOST LIKELY NOT CHANGE MY MIND, BUT I RESPECT THAT YOU SAID WHAT YOU FELT..
AS FOR THE CAKE...I AM DOING THE NO CARB THING....(EXCEPT BEER) SO YOU CAN HAVE THE WHOLE CAKE!!!!!DAMN I MISS CARBS.
: Perhaps I should be clearer - opinions based on facts are fine, but opinions BASED ON OPINIONS are wrong. For example, if you think boxing is fixed, then that's a good reason for you not to like it. But it's not a reason for calling for the end of boxing unless it's proven to be true - imagine the injustice if it's not fixed. If you were to say "Boxing should end because of the risk of horrific brain damage", that's a much better reason.
: I'll explain what I meant about the "violence in boxing being incidental". The sport of boxing is based around beating someone else more than they beat you - agreed? But that's the basis of the sport - someone wouldn't necessarily go into boxing specifically to use it as an outlet for their own violent feelings.
