the renting of the bowling alley. It's nce to be able to enjoy yourself without worrting about noise levels.
Also, I'd like to see a permanent web site dedicated to Vulgarthon. We've had v2k and v2k2 sites, but essentially the same information is shared by all.
As for the time frame, October (V2K) was just as cold as January (V2K2), however, the chance of snow or inclimate weather is far less. I'd hate to see a freak storm make half the people miss the event, so I propose holding the event during a time when weather (besides rain) is an issue. Understandably, Summer is when theaters do business, but perhaps some middle time could be found.
While I appreciate the free ball cap, I beleive buttons would work just as well, perhaps better than tickets or the cap. The buttons are small, but have a less chance of being misplaced. Also, the cost of tickets could be removed completely from the budget. If donations to charity are again an issue, then just give the money that would be spent on tickets to charity. Any additional money needed to reach a "target" donation could be provided thru an auction or raffle (perhaps a poster signed by all attendees?). The poster idea is a long shot, but could circulate thru the line as people wait to enter.
I like the idea of screening fan films, but agree some might feel cheated or not bother attending. SMALLS and MARKSMAN have good ideas on the subject, however, I'd like to add that if Kevin could schedule with a few celebs in advance, people would attend regardless of what plays.
Filling Count Basie would be easy in such a case, but I'm still undecided on Basie otherwise. Though I think everyone in attendance would greatly appreciate not being split into two seperate days or having to worry about swapping tickets to sit with friends in theater one.
Anyways, just a few ideas and I'm sure more foolish thoughts will flow before the next one is planned.
