I missed the pre-game, but I woulda liked a huge mega-event at half-time. A couple songs and run off the stage? What a rip.
As much as I appreciate U2 and McCartney feeling like compatriots, I agree with Isis. . . where the hell were our own rock bands?? Geez, dig up Guns N Roses if you have to.
I appreciated the sentiment of Bono's jacket, but it was a pretty minimal gesture.
I hope somebody else explains the football and war syllogism. I'm getting tired now. :)
: I had this impression that they might do something more political and daring, given that they've been such strong peace activists in the past. The U.S. flag on the inside of his jacket was cheesy. And to be honest, the whole patriotic theme was pretty damn corny. Everything was so war-oriented. What does football have to do with September 11? And if super-patriotism is the game of the day, why pick an Irish band to do it?
: I also wish they could have played more than two songs, and that those two songs would have been more poignant ballads rather than arena rockers, if they were going to do the whole names thing. Juxtaposing the names against "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" was just, frankly, wierd. However...
: : I'd rather see the real emotion that they displayed, than the crap packaging of Britney and Aerosmith..
: Nobody is arguing with you here.
