: Her notions of sexuality. Most liberals are able to accept that people are born with a certain sexual preference that "can't be helped". The idea that someone can actively choose who they love based upon the person rather than the genitalia, is a little more radical. It's hard for some people to absorb, even gay people. Or maybe she just doesn't like the way some things are phrased; if she doesn't enjoy repressed humor (by which I mean dirty sex and bathroom jokes) then it might just not be her ticket.
: As far as I know, Kevin has only said he loves J&SBSB, that it's the only movie of his he can watch repeatedly and still enjoy it.
And Dogma, I think. At least that's what he wrote in the book.
I know I can watch it over & over (though I did think twice before watching it with grammy.)
I just found out the other day that the scene w/the triplets that takes place after the bridge scene, with them all beat up, was originally due to a fight between them and Bethany, Rock, J&SB on the bridge. I always thought Azrael went off on them, and part of his cool was he looked so clean after doing it.
Ok, so I now am truly slipping into an obsession.... But it feels all right.
: Damn, I'm posting too much this morning. Let's see if I can actually go all day without doing a lick of work.
: : 2 different topics in the same post. I apologize. But it's two birds with one stone, really.
: : Last night, for the umpteenth time (how does one spell umpteenth? I'm not sure myself), I watched Chasing Amy. God, I love that movie. But I was showing it to my mother...who is, in most cases, fairly liberal.
: : She doesn't really like it.
: : Worse. She can't really explain why. She says that she didn't even know what a lesbian was until she was forty...I'm not quite sure what that has to do with liking the movie, but it was discouraging -- is there really that much of a generational gap between us "kids* and the ol' folks??? I remember reading on the Chasing Amy website that Kevin, upon thanking his parents, said "I know there is a PG in me somewhere" ... what is up with this generational gap and how could someone let it ruin the only good love story of the 90's???
: : -- Okay, second topic. Yes, the Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back website is amusing...but hasn't Kevin said anything, anywhere, about his real feelings about the movie? I just want to hear what he really thinks (might just have to wait 2 more weeks for that DVD) as opposed to the tongue-in-cheek sentiments on the website...
