Kevin has little to do with the way the DVD market is organized. Unless you want to believe he's in charge of the entire world. There's really nothing he can do about it.
In the case of Clerks, it's a special interest DVD - no matter how much YOU like it, the film doesn't appeal to a huge market. Hence, if it's to be released at all, it needs to be done on a low unit / high margin basis. Be glad it's out at all.
