I've got me a Beaulieu R16 that I got from a used camera store for C$1000. I want to get a Canon Scoopic. It's less fussy than the Beaulieu.
For lights, I use halogen worklights that I got from Canadian Tire.
I also belong to the Independent Filmmaker's Cooperative of Ottawa. They rent out equipment and old-school editing rooms (flatbeds baybee) really cheap, plus they have lots of available volunteers with plenty of low-budget film experience.
I also have a Beaulieu 5008, but it needs a new battery.
