They almost always mangle books when their made into movies. Hell, Anne Rice wrote the screenplay for interview herself and the story STILL got butchered.
Ah, well. Fans of the books will nitpick. Thankfully, it's been about 5 years since I read Queen of the Damned so I may not notice.
