I had to write a paper for my college English class at UCSB. The topic was uninteresting until I watched Chasing Amy for the first time on saturday night. I watched it again sunday night. GREAT FILM!! The assignment was to describe the conflict that our private and public lives cause in our quest to achieve fulfillment in life. Did this film show those conflicts or what? Alyssa showed us how fulfillment is not always where we were looking for it. Hooper X showed us the stresses that our society puts on certain groups and how those stresses force them to become something they are not or to suffer the consequences of not conforming to the "standard." Thanks to Mr. Smith for a wonderful piece. Don't get me wrong I love Mallrats and Dogma but Chasing Amy was truly a great movie.
