1. Split a room with a friend (because face it, you are not getting laid)
2. Get the airfare lined up asap. Head out on the weekend if you can, it will be cheaper.
3. Shop around for airfare...use the internet (Expedia and Orbitz)
4. Dont feel bad asking for a better rate on hotel rooms. (Though Marksman did one kick ass job arranging for the Holiday Inn.)
Those are trips I use for most trips.
