I preparing to start my first project. I'm going with DV. For much less than the $10-$20k you need to shoot film you can buy a top flight camera, I'm going with the Canon XL1S, build a pc and buy software to edit the project. Other than this equipment, don't obsess with funding. Just do fucking thing by whatever means is needed.
I'm also bamking on bullshit. If you need a cd store for a scene, go to local cd store and lay it on. Not being in NY or LA could be an advantage here, as the locals may get excited about having thier home or business in a movie.
That's my opinion. I may very well be full of shit, but that doesn't matter, because I'm still going to do it anyway.

: Speaking of Independent Films...How the hell do you get one budgeted? I see all these "straight to video" films which blow a considerably large amount of dick snot bubbles. So I'm wondering...how does a man(boy) go about getting a "GREAT IDEA" funded? Any ideas besides those damn fundraisers..would really be appreciative. Obviously fundraisers don't work if you don't have friends in high places with big real estate. So any help will help. Thank you.
