...because here comes the heart-breaking true story of why I was on the
phone for all of two minutes.
: ---Wait...He was on the phone ..(and I could almost guarantee it was to
his wife and daughter)...
Actually, I was on the phone with my mother, who was standing outside of
the Con with my wheelchair-ridden father, asking me how to get in. I very
briefly instructed them which door to go through and which volunteer to
look for who'd help them find me, so that I could go back to signing stuff.
"Hollywood" indeed.
It's dickheads like this cry-baby turncoat (not Malcolm, whose post I'm
responding to here, mind you; I'm talking about the cry-baby turncoat
Malcolm, himself, was responding to; although, for the record, Malcolm has
also sworn himself a "fan no more" on any number of occasions, when I've
begged him to stop cooking pasta with rancid-smelling cheese in my house at
three in the morning) that make me want to stop going to Cons at all. But
I love doing the Q&A's - fucking love it - so my compulsion to stand before
a thousand people and tell stories about Mewes' dick beats out my momentary
frustration over the fact that a) I can't please absolutely everybody, and
b) some of those who go unpleased will most assuredly tear their coat and
tell me I'm dead to them, like Olivier in "The Jazz Singer."
Such is the price one (very rarely, thankfully) has to pay for maintaining
a close relationship with the audience: familiarity can sometimes breed
contempt.
Oh, to be a demon with green skin and two red horns on my head. Life would
be so much simpler...
